Some of the key Comments & Contributions

  • There is the need to develop the Human Resource capacity of the country especially in the area of teachers and lecturers in ICT. This problem must be addressed since Human Resource is a key component for the socio-economic development of the country.
  • The study of ICT needs to be intensified in the country. It is vital to begin this from the basic level to the tertiary level.
  • There is the need to computerize the various educational institutions not only to aid in teaching and learning but also to help make their administrative duties of tracing student information etc fast to save time and energy which are all vital to the development of the economy.
  • The Government was urged to come out with a policy to address the problem of outmoded curricula some of the educational institutes are currently running. The needed resources need to be put in place to upgrade the educational sector to reflect the current manpower needs of the country.
  • The policy must address issues relating to the type of programmes students are made to offer in the tertiary level and their relevance to the economy.
  • The policy must also address issues relating to the Critical Success Factors and the Attitude of employees and employers. There is the need to put some incentives in place to help change the attitude of Ghanaians towards work in order to improve the socio-economic development of the country
  • Appealed to the Government through the Committee to include all sectors of the society in the policy development and implementation process. ICT should be made available to all to enable them contributetheir quota to the development of the economy.
  • The policy must find a way of monitoring the educational system to ensure that the students trained in the various tertiary institutions are absorbed by the economy to fish out the irrelevant courses that does not bring about any development to the economy.
