Meeting with the Staff of All Nation University
The National ICT Policy and Plan Development Committee met with the staff of All Nation University of the Eastern Region, on the 2nd of July 2002. The meeting was part of the National Consultative exercise aimed at developing an ICT-driven socio-economic development policy and plan.
Some of the key Comments & Contributions
- Government must support Private Universities financially; since they admit the students rejected by the public universities.
- Basic literacy and Computer literacy programs must be set up to educate the public as a whole.
- Wrong perspectives of guidance that education is a waste must be change; Guidance must be encouraged to send their wards to school.
- More jobs must be created in the country so that students would not be frustrated or stranded after school.
- There must be a Presidential Special Initiative (PSI) for ICT Awareness Creation.
- ICT Radio programs and ICT radio quiz must be set up to build enough information for the public.
- The Get-fund must be able to assist the private universities in the country.
