The National ICT4AD Consultative Pocess
Public Forum with Staff and Students of Ashesi University
The National ICT Policy and Plan Development Committee met with the staff and students of Ashesi University College on Wednesday, 23rd October 2002 as part of the national consultative exercise aimed at developing an ICT driven socio-economic development policy and plan.
Mr. Mohammed-Sani Abdulai, Member of the National ICT Committee, made a presentation.

- There is the need to look at and address issues relating to computer security.
- The support of the government and people would be necessary if the Ghana ICT for Accelerated Development process would succeed.
- The introduction of ICT training and education within the secondary school system and higher institutions of education would be essential.
- The issue of ICTs within the informal education system should be taken on board.
- Reliable electricity infrastructure would be critical for the advancement of ICTs in Ghana. There is therefore the need to address this.
- Efforts should be made to remove taxes and duties on computers imported for educational purposes
