Highlights, Comments and Questions from Members of the Council

  • Education and public awareness campaign will be required to sustain the Ghana ICT for Development process
  • It is clear that the ICT for Development issue need to be embraced by the country. Just as the HIV/AIDS pandemic issue is being taken seriously, the ICT issue also needs to be taken serious and addressed within the context of the country’s development agenda.
  • The Honourable members encouraged the Committee to devise innovative ways of getting the ICT for Accelerated Development message to all Ghanaians. The need to use the Churches as forums for educating the public on the process was highlighted as one of the ways to reach the public. Associations and other Informal Groups should also be used as avenues to sensitize the people on the ICT process
  • The development of the necessary human resource base of the country to facilitate the ICT for development process should be taken on board and given a priority.
  • There is a need to undertake more research work to put together the necessary background technical documents to support the development of the necessary policies and the corresponding plans.
  • The state of the economy as detailed in the Presentation to the Council gives course for concern. On the basis of this the Honourable members, pledged their support for the ICT for Accelerated Development process.
