Some Highlights of the Issues Raised

    • The need to consider the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission as a partner in the development of ICTs in Ghana was raised.
    • The Government was encouraged to set up Factories to enable engineers build computers and translate science into technology to reduce the importation of technologies from other countries.
    • The lack of personal computers in the educational sector should be of prime concern to the Committee and the Government.
    • The curriculum in the schools must also be developed to support the capacity development of the ICT sector.
    • The deployment and exploitation of Science and Technology to facilitate Ghana’s development should be given top priority.
    • The development of ICT skills must begin from the lowest level in the educational set-up. The issue of qualified personnel to undertake the training of pupils and students must also be critically examined.
    • Ghanaians must be encouraged to undertake the study of science. The lack of this is slowly eroding the scientific base of the country; society must be encouraged in the study of science for the nation to become scientifically literate.
    • Science and Research must be encouraged in the country to sustain the development of ICTs.

next - Meeting with the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.
