Some Highlights of the Issues Raised
- One major problem facing the country is Low morale of staff, for ICT to be of great benefit to all, there is the need for re-organization and restructuring of all Government and Private institutions, these are some of the critical success factors that have to be addressed.
- ICT should be used innovatively to attract investors into the country. Strategies must also be changed in the procedure used in dealing with investors, for example information could be put on diskettes or CD’s instead of the investor having to carry bulky files around.
- Procedures could be made easy with the Internet. The GIPC could set up a virtual ‘one stop center’ (website address) where forms could be obtained and contacts made and information accessed, this would reduce the long processes normally used and also reduce the work on the physical information center and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- All institutions associated with the investment procedures for example the Customs Exercise and Preventive Service, Banks and Financial Institutions etc must come together to form an Information Center where the Investor could have access to all information at one center without him/her having to move from one place to the other. This could attract more investors and improve of the socio-economic development of the country.
