Dialogue with the Private Enterprise Foundation (PEF)
The National ICT Policy and Plan Development Committee met with the management of the Private Enterprise Foundation on the 18th October 2002 as part of the National Consultative exercise aimed at developing an ICT-driven socio-economic development policy and plan.

Some of the key Comments & Contributions
- The role of small and medium enterprises needs to be promoted and supported within the content of developing ICTs to support Ghana’s socio-economic development.
- The area of ICTs in education needs to be critically examined as a way of reducing the cost of re-training of personnel without ICT skill

There is a need to encourage a close collaboration between the National ICT Policy and Plan Development Committee process and the National Development Planning Commission to ensure harmonization between the two processes.
- There is the need to reduce the cost of doing business in Ghana in order to encourage Foreign Direct Investment in the area of ICTs.
- The necessary regulatory framework and enabling environment would need to be put in place to attract investment for the development of the local ICTs infrastructure by the local and foreign private sector.
- For a long-term impact of ICTs on national development, ICT should be incorporated in the educational curriculum from the basic school levels.
