Some of the key Comments and contributions

  • Participants agreed that the Government should encourage and support the Sector by ensuring that enabling policies are put in place.
  • It was understood that Ghana lags behind in terms of development, and that every effort should be made to support and promote its socio-economic development.
  • The mind-set of the people must be changed to make policies effective.
  • The Government should encourage local participation in its investment drive and policies will need to be put in place to support this.
  • The use of ICT’s to facilitate Ghana’s development should be seen within the longer-term perspective.
  • Human Resource is the key and putting in place policies to address this issue should be given top priority. There’s the need to deploy ICT’s in educational system from the primary school upwards
  • Government should create an enabling environment by addressing the key issues.
  • Government should promote competition, and enforce strict International Product standards etc.
  • Alliance should be formed between the Academia and the Industry to promote Research and Development which is necessary to drive and support the development of the local ICT Industry.
  • There is a need to standardize ICT procurement procedures within the Industry.
