Dialogue with the Volta River Authority (VRA)
The National ICT Policy and Plan Development Committee met with the management of the Volta River Authority on the 8th October 2002 as part of the National Consultative exercise aimed at developing an ICT-driven socio-economic development policy and plan.

Some Highlights of the Issues Raised
- The cost of telecommunication services in the country would need to be addressed to facilitate universal access and service.
- A close collaboration has to be created between the ICT process and that of the National Development Planning Commission for the ICT Policy and Plan Development Committee’s policy to fit into the NDPC’s national developmental plan.
- The ICT for development vision would need to be clearly stated and there is a need to recognize that ICTs are not panacea to all development problems.
- There is a need to come out with implementation initiatives and programmes within the plan.
